..You know, I was half expecting some sort of obnoxious band to be playing closer to midnight, the lack of it is definitely nice.

[ He runs his thumb over the mouth of his beer bottle. ]

[ At the mention of the lack of any music he glances out into the the bar. ]

Maybe they couldn't make it.

[smile turns into a grin] I don't mind. I doubt anyone could dance to what they'd have playing here, never mind there's hardly room for it.

[She's keeping an eye on things, tipsy or otherwise. But she trusts North to let her know when he feels like he's done. Or if he doesn't feel like being here for Midnight.]

[ It really is getting late, but his thoughts aren't there at all. His state of inebriation is why he's taking it so slow drinking his beer; he wants to prolong his buzz, not cause himself to pass out. ]

I sure wouldn't. I'm...mm, I think I'm pretty drunk.

I could tell. Just a little. [A wink, and she leans forward onto her arms with a grin] Think we'll have to roll you into a cab, or are you going to be okay walking back with me?

[when they leave. which doesn't have to be right away]

[ He responds to her smile with a faint one of his own. She's definitely helping to put him in better spirits. ]

I'll just have some water and I'll be fine to walk.

[smile remains ] So it'll be a matter of helping you walk in a straight line then.

[ He stifles a hiccup. Ugh, that's the worst part of getting drunk. ]

Maybe I'd better start on getting that glass of water.

[Lips press together, but given how wide her smile gets, it's clear she can tell he's hiccuping. And she's just edged enough into drunk herself for that to be amusing.]

Want me to get that for you? [not that it wouldn't be funny to see him try and walk over but]

[ And when he gets up and heads over to the bar he seems to be doing okay. It's not till he's almost back to the table that he trips. He catches himself though, and sets the glass on the table. ]

[ There's a bit of water slop thanks to tripping, but it gets the table and not Carolina, or other patrons. She does half-spring up to help him regain his balance, laughter present in her voice. ]

Steady now, or you'll have to go back and get another one!

[ He laughs and feels his way out to getting back in his seat. ]

This'll do the trick, don't worry.

[ At least it'll steady him a bit, he hopes. ]

You don't usually give me cause to worry.

[plenty of other once-teammates to manage that, but North seemed to have landed on his feet well enough here. She lightly runs the pad of her thumb around the lip of her bottle, an absent but consistant motion]

Ha. She can drink me under the table. I don't know how she does it.

Clearly you need to learn to pace yourself. Or eat a bigger meal before heading out.
