πŸ¦‹ IC Information

Character Name: Agent North Dakota | unknown (I use the name Andrew Engelsen for him)
Age: Late 20s
Canon: Red vs Blue
Canon Point: As he is being attacked for his AI by the Meta
Character History: Here
Canon Abilities: What is your character capable of doing in canon?

North has been recruited into an elite force of mercenary soldiers. As such he is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, self-defense tactics, shooting, and survival. His specialty is the sniper rifle; he’s nearly as accurate shooting without a scope as he is with it. In the confrontation with his sister, he’s seen dual-wielding sniper rifles, one in each hand.

North is good at calming people down, helping them compromise, helping them feel better, and suggesting things that will help them feel comforted. Given his skills in dealing with Theta it would seem he would be excellent with children, should he find himself around any.

North is incredibly patient, a skill that helps him both in his role as a sniper and his attempts to help others.

Inventory:

His power armor (purple with green accents), his rifle, and Theta, an AI that has been implanted in a chip at the base of his skull.

πŸ¦‹ Personality

Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.

  1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?

North has never really believed in magic, having been raised in an era of logic and reason and science. The AI the Project created to pair him with is evidence enough for him that the things that seem impossible all have scientific explanations; even the enemies humankind has been fighting since before he was born were aliens from other worlds. I headcanon that by the time Halo and RvB take place (in the 2500s, 500 years from now), farie tales are told with a large dose of skepticism, a sense that this is mere fantasy, even around small children. After all, farie tales are stories that only distract from the day-to-day reality that humanity is at war, and a devastating war at that. And ever since he's had Theta to act fatherly toward, or at least brotherly toward, this tendency has only been solidified. If someone tried to tell him magic is real, he'd likely quietly disagree, but not make a big fuss about it. After all, it takes time and patience to change someone's mind about a fundamental belief like that.

  2. If your character could ask for one wish, and it's going to be magically granted without any consequence, what will it be and why?

Everything in North's life has gone astray because of the actions of Leonard Church choosing to torture the ALpha AI and split it into multiple component AIs. Although he has a great deal of affection for Theta and appreciates the AI for its personality and talents, if he could have one wish granted he'd likely say he wishes the actions Church took in administering the Project and its AIs had never taken place. In the case of something like this, however, it would take wishing that Church had never gone through the experiences that he had gone through that inspired him to create the Project in the first place—the death of his wife, and even the war itself, are causes North can't see any way to be able to prevent. So it would take changing the way Church viewed his own role in the war and his ethical lapses in working with soldiers and AIs in the unethical ways he was willing to do.

  3. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

North would follow his sister, South, no question. In my headcanon, North's family was poor and he and his sister shared a bedroom with a rickety bunk bed in it in a 3rd floor apartment. Despite their poverty, and their parents trying their best to raise their twins, the two ended up spending much of their time after school hours alone. North's more mature and responsible nature clashed with South's impulsivity, so he often intervened when South would do things like scrap with older teens on the basketball court and the like. However, he was also very defensive of her, so he was just as likely to enter the fray if someone was being particularly cruel to her. He became used to being her defender and intervening in situations she had gotten into, despite her protestations that he wasn't required to do such things. He sees himself as being needed in her life because of her brash decisions, and if the faeries carried her off for whatever reason he'd want to be the one to help her in the situation she had found herself in.

  4. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

North's is definitely his nurturing nature. This was so noticeable that when Theta split off of Alpha, and was obviously a child fragment of its personality, North was chosen to host him. He's often seen trying to mentor others and talk to them about their issues, though the fact that he seems to see himself as some kind of father figure makes him come across as condescending as a consequence. He's unfortunately a bit passive-aggressive in the way he communicates when he thinks someone should be acting differently from the way that they are, which shows especially in the fight scene where he and South are working in sync to escape a situation where she set the alarm off—he keeps trying to tell her, a capable fighter, what choices she should be making in the fight. On the converse side, he tends to believe the best out of people, including the Project leadership, and it takes him a lot of time and convincing to realize the agents of the Project are not the good guys.

List your top three choices for your characters adoptive court. The mods will choose the one out of those three options that seems the most fitting based on your app.

  • Summer

  • Autumn

  • Spring

Ability:

3) Yes, but they either have no ability of their own, or they refuse to trade theirs away; they will buy their court's ability on credit.
